ATARI GAMES FAST FORWARDS INTO THE FUTURE OF RACING WITH SAN FRANCISCO RUSH 2049

Also new to Rush 2049 is a patent pending player registration feature using a 12 button keypad that is mounted on the side of the monitor.  Players can join ‘Team Rush’ by entering a 10 digit PIN using the keypad.  Once they register their name, the game will track players’ cumulative mileage, best driving times, driving preferences and bonus coins accumulated. Players can then come back to the same Rush 2049 game and enter their PIN on the keypad and the game will welcome them by name and automatically enter their driving preferences.

In addition to the player tracking and recognition benefits, the Team Rush feature offers frequent driver awards just for playing Rush 2049.  New tracks, a hidden car and custom paint jobs will be opened to players as they reach mileage thresholds.

Atari Games is promoting this feature by offering a quantity of prizes to players who reach mileage levels. At 50 miles, players can earn a Team Rush member car and Rush 2049 collector pin. At 500 miles they can win a T-shirt.  Full details of the Team Rush program are displayed in the demo mode of  the game and by pressing the View 1 button.

"This program is designed to build location loyalty because it offers players a chance to earn both new game features and Rush 2049 prizes just for playing the game," says Mary Fujihara, vice president of marketing.

All the features that made the 1996 original San Francisco Rush and the 1997 sequel, Rush the Rock popular are kept intact: unparalleled driving realism, huge air time, surprising shortcuts, and unrivaled head-to-head racing action.
